Baptism or christening is one ceremony that parents of the child cherish in their hearts forever. This ceremony encompasses giving the child a formal name. Apart from its religious significance, the baptism ceremony formally heralds the journey of life of the child in the material world. All this while, mothers are mostly reminded of their painful pregnancy period, but now they thank God for having blessed them with the babies.
The Celebratory Spirit:
The baby christening ceremonies are organized with great fervor and are pretty similar to baby showers or welcomes showers. Decorations for these events are akin to those seen in showers. Aside from religious elements, the atmosphere has a spirit of celebration. The guests join the new parents to celebrate and share the joy of the baby’s arrival. Just like baby showers, it is customary for the guests to bring different types of baby items in form of gifts. Though gifts in baptism ceremonies are predominantly baby toys, you do not need to break your head thinking about the gifts to take to christening ceremony. The ideas for such baby gifts can be found in abundance on various sites on the Internet.

We all know somebody who was “born with a silver spoon in his mouth.” That lucky friend who inherited money or to whom wealth, health and happiness came without any effort on their part. And, admit it, we are just that tinsy winsy bit jealous.
Well, how did family wealth and easy good fortune become associated with a commonplace eating utensil?
Spoons have been around for thousands of years. Most early spoons were wooden spatulas or even re-worked seashells. The Greeks and Romans did manufacture the occasional spoons of gold, silver and bronze, but the most common materials, as in the later Medieval period, were wood, pewter and bone.
It is probably in the 15th and 16th centuries that the link between fortune and spoons became established. By Tudor times, it was not uncommon for godparents in wealthy society to present their godchildren with a Christening gift of silver Apostle Spoons. A set of twelve spoons, each with an image of one apostle on the handle was a prestigious Christening gift. An alternative was a set of four spoons representing the evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Silver spoons are still given as Christening gifts and Baptism presents today, but Apostle Spoons are less common and more difficult to find.

2. Baby Gifts can be educational.
Baby gifts can help a baby learn about the world, but unlike some lessons, baby gifts educate in an entertaining way. Certain types of toys, like foam spelling blocks, baby books, and puzzles with large, soft pieces can all teach babies how to relate to their surroundings. Mobiles hung above a baby’s crib help the baby learn how to visually

Baptisms are monumental events for children because it’s their first religious experience, even if they’re not conscious of it. Preachers, pastors, and ministers invest considerable time, energy, resources, and teaching into the importance and practice of baptism – both for infants and adults. An infant baptism is separate and distinct from a believer’s baptism. In the latter case, more friends and family are invited because Christians believe this is the time when salvation occurs.
Baptism invitations for the latter group of adults, adolescents, teenagers, and young children that have gone through their toddler stage are often very formal, striking, and memorable. Images of guardian angels, gifts, or the Cross itself are included. This event is considered by the person, the initiate, to be a spiritual stepping stone, a milestone into a higher spiritual life, or a time when the whole family can come together and give thanks to God for inviting a new person into his family. It’s almost always necessary to send out baptism invitations for adult baptisms because the event is so significant to the Christian. Invitations for the smaller group, actually the former group, excuse the joke, are just simple, clear, fun, and direct. They needn’t be somber, serious, or evocative of any evolutionary period in the child’s moral or spiritual life.

Choosing perfect Christening gifts, Naming Day Gifts or Baptism gifts for your friends and family can be fun and exciting but also confusing. Christening gifts and baptism gifts were initially small items of monetary or material value that could be kept as an initial investment for the child’s future. The silver sixpence or the lucky sovereign could be the start of a nest-egg to help the child gain independence in later life. Today many people carry on the tradition by giving christening gifts such as silver banks in many different styles, tokens or even money.
As a baptism or christening takes place in church many people honour this day by giving a childrens bible, enabling the child to learn the Bible especially when the illustrations are designed to appeal to children. Some versions can even be personalised on the front cover with details of baby’s name and the date and place of the Christening. Other gift ideas include a silver cross necklace or personalised plate with church and date details.
For the less traditional - perhaps those attending a naming Day ceremony -
there are a vast array of christening gifts available.

How many godchildren do you have? Two … maybe three? Some of us may even be able to boast as many as half a dozen or so. Well spare a thought for The Queen. At the last count, Queen Elizabeth II had amassed a grand total of 30 godchildren.
For us mere mortals, choosing an appropriate Christening gift, remembering a birthday or finding another Christmas present, on top of providing the occasional piece of pithy moral and spiritual advice, can be taxing at the best of times. So how does The Queen manage with thirty little souls to guide?
Well, firstly we can assume that she doesn’t spend too much time pottering around the shops trying to find that special Christening gift. Similarly, an equerry will probably remind her when the next birthday is due and a Lady-in-Waiting or a Woman of the Bedchamber will be on hand to recommend the most popular Christmas presents for the little darlings. I think we are safe in assuming that the godchildren don’t come high on that list of forgotten jobs that keeps the rest of us awake at 3am in the morning.

Personalized items are so special for anyone or any occasion. Children and adults both really get excited over a gift with a personalization on it for them.
There are so many occasions to use a personalized item, besides the normal ones of birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. What about baptisms, memorials, second marriages, graduations, new job, new business, new baby, heading off to college, a baseball team, a remodeled room in your home, or a new home….you can always find a reason to give a really special gift. And there are gifts for all these different occasions. How unique to give a gift especially personalized for whatever occasion you feel is important.
Of course you always want to be sure of correct spellings and dates when buying a personalized gift. Be sure it is appropriate for the occasion. Be sure it is made of good quality materials so it can be used for years to come, i.e. a unity candle lit on every anniversary.
You can buy candles engraved for every occasion, tote bags embroidered with names, pocket tools for men or women, business card cases, new baby gifts with names and date of birth. How about silver plated compact mirrors, gifts for the golfer or the smoker or that one person in the group who loves to be the bartender.

Baptism invitations are usually sent out for infant baptisms. Infant baptism is a Christian religious procedure for newborns or even young children. Invitations are rarely sent out for the contrasting practice, believer’s baptism, because the event will usually take place in a family church with the presence and knowledge of existing churchgoers and friends. Oftentimes, for very young children, the invitations go out to relatives. Infant baptisms are common in most Orthodox churches, the Reformed Church in America, the Church of the Nazarene, the United Church of Christ, and by Presbyterians, Lutherans, Methodists, and the Roman Catholic Church. Ironically, Baptists do not usually practice infant baptism. Pentecostals, Mennonites, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Latter-day Saints don’t practice it either. You can be assured, if you’re the recipient of an invitation, that the sender is not affiliated with any of the aforementioned offshoots of Christianity.
What is baptism and why are invitations issued for the ceremonial procedure?

Baptism happens to be one of the most important commandments given by Jesus Christ as a common practice preached by the disciples as a ritual act. Similarly, ‘Baptism’ is a word derived from a Greek word ‘Batizo’, which means immersing or performing ablution.
However, some differences could be witnessed in the act of Baptism ranging from various ethnicities and some Christians such as the Salvation Army and Quakers do not deem it as necessary as part of their Christian belief.
As rituals and beliefs are practiced by people, gift giving becomes part of the culture as an act of friendliness and love and the arrival of a new baby is marked by great joy and enthusiasm. Therefore, there is a huge range available for gift selection and thereby making the christening ceremony one of the most memorable occasions celebrated. Looking back in time would a child realize how worthwhile and cherished his or her birth was. Hence, one best way to do that is selecting the right gift for this moment in life.
