What is the perfect Christmas gift for that “someone special” on your Christmas List? Don’t just wait till the last minute like last year! There is still time to do a bit of homework and really surprise them this year! Let us help you in your journey to ascertain that perfect gift…
a) The Boy Scouts have a famous motto, “Always be prepared”. While not all of us are boy scouts, we can still take this motto to heart. How you say? Whenever you are around that special someone, notice what they say and do. They will often give you clues and ideas and hints on what they would like to receive for Christmas this year. They might say:
“This is nice, I’ll have to keep it in mind”.
“If only I could afford this”.
“This is a great idea, but it would be better if it was in red”.
Remember to write these comments down when you get a free minute. Comments such as these are gold mines for great gift giving…

One thing I realized while doing gift shopping is for the parent wanting to really save money that it would not be really hard to do so this holiday season. I was in the middle of doing shopping for something else when I saw that the store I was at, Marshall’s, had set up a toy section for Christmas. Now those of you who know about the store know that you can find name brand stuff from other retailers at very good discounts. I came face to face with a lot of name brand toys that would normally be $20 to $30 that were being sold for $5, $7, $10, and $15. These were toys that any child would be happy to have at mere pennies on the dollar. Here some of the toys that I found.
Transformers as I mentions in another article are very popular right now and many new models have been made based on characters from the recent movie that came out last summer, Transformers 2: Rise of the Fallen. These were highly articulated transforming vehicles and many were main characters. I saw an Optimus Prime, Ratchet, and Megatron all for under $10. I was amazed since most of my research has pointed to these toys being some of the bestselling items for the season. So pay attention to the prices at Wal-Mart, Toys R’ Us and other retailers

I have always found that picking out toys for toddlers is so so much fun. Other people find it extremely difficult and I am not here to argue either way. You may not be having deep conversations with your child that is from 1 to 3 years old, but they do “talk” in their own unique way. What I can honestly say is that it’s extremely fun to shop for them and pick out gifts that make them smile and giggle.
Toddlers love to touch, taste, smell, see, and feel their toys. I know you don’t like the taste part. Ya gotta get over that part because they are going to do it when you are not looking. That is why the toys are always too big to stick in their mouths. Just make sure that the toys stimulate their senses!
Some parents think that because their toddler does not speak any intelligent words that they are not communicating. Our youngest son who is now 7 years old had the hardest time speaking up until he was almost 4 years old. We had to use our older son as the interpreter! Thank goodness that he was good at body communication.

This Christmas families are looking for ways to spend the holidays with their family and have fun. They also don’t want to pay a lot of money in the process. This might seem daunting in a society where everything looks to have a price. The great news is that as a parent there are many fun activities that you can do with your children that will cost little or no money but will allow you to still have one of the most memorable Christmases your family has ever seen. The only thing you need is the willingness to look around your town and neighborhood and use your imagination. Here are some great suggestions to get you started.
Visit family that lives nearby this Christmas. If spending Christmas with your children is fun then spending it with extended relatives can only be better. Get together with your parents or brothers and sisters and see if you can plan a big family Christmas. This has many benefits. You and your kids get to see family that you may not normally see on a regular basis. There is also the simple fact that the more people there are, the more lively a celebration can be. It can also help you to cut down on cost for Christmas when everyone pitches in.

This Christmas many parents are looking for unique ways to make the holidays special for their children. One way is to have their kids get funny or wacky Christmas gifts. This is a way to make the kids laugh and enjoy their Christmas even more. The magic of the holidays is the anticipation of getting presents and never quite knowing what you are going to get. For the practical joker at heart you can give presents that will be sure to tickle their funny bone and give them something fun to use on friends at the first opportunity. This is while not on the same beaten path as more traditional gifts still represents the joy of the Christmas season. Here are some great ideas that you can take advantage of for your funny Christmas presents.
Gag gifts are inexpensive and funny presents that are meant to get a reaction out of the recipient. They can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. For example it might be cute and funny like a light up Rudolph reindeer nose. Or it can be gross out humor like a holiday sheep pooping out chocolate candy. The important thing is to make your kids laugh or say “Ewww!” This can be a delicate balance. The best thing to do is think of how your child would react if they received a lump of coal and make it funny. They are also great gifts to mix in for gift grab present games.

This Christmas many families are looking for ways to make Christmas day more exciting. The normal tradition is to open the presents placed beneath the Christmas tree and enjoy them for the rest of the day. However it soon becomes tiresome after the initial excitement of opening presents has ended. Here are some great ideas for spicing up the present opening with Secret Santa Games.
The first game is Dirty Santa. Like Secret Santa it involves participants buying gifts for each other anonymously. However, there are no assigned recipients. Everyone just buys a gift that meets the agreed upon budget. It is up to the discretion of each person to pick what gift they think the other players would like. On Christmas Day have each family member pick a gift. They then have the option of keeping it or stealing another player’s gift. This along with not knowing what gift you get will add an air of excitement to your gift exchanges.
Another game is holiday poker. The rules are simple. Everyone that wants to participate buys small presents to act as the stake. You then play a game of poker by the normal rules. It can be Texas Hold’em or any of the other varieties of poker. The person that wins gets the majority of the presents that are bet upon in the game.

Just doing simple and enjoyable activities can mean as much to your kids as the best Christmas present in the history of the world. If you are at a loss to at what free or affordable activities you can do this season, here are some great suggestions to help you.
Do Arts and Crafts with your kids. Rather than spend a lot of money on holiday decorations, challenge your family’s creativity by having everyone make decorations this year. There are many simple decorations that your children can make. You can have older kids do more challenging projects as well. If you don’t know where to start then you can do research online or at your local library.
Go to a Holiday show put on by your church or community theater group. You can take your kids to see a reenactment of the Christmas Story or take them to see a performance of the Nutcracker. Make sure to check online or in the community section of your local newspaper to find performance that are free and open to the public. If not, see if the ticket prices are reasonable for your family budget.
